Summary of Investor Visa Requirements
Must have £2 million of own funds, held in a regulated financial institution and freely disposable in the UK.
Must have opened an investment account with a UK-regulated bank for the purpose of investing the £2 million.
If currently or previously sponsored by a government or international agency, must provide unconditional written consent from the sponsor.

Money Ownership Requirement
To qualify for an Investor Visa, the £2 million must be under the applicant’s sole control. Joint ownership with a partner (spouse, civil partner, or long-term partner of any gender) is permitted, provided the applicant has full, unrestricted rights to transfer and use the funds. You must also provide evidence of the relationship and written permission to use the joint funds.

Form of UK Investment
To qualify, the applicant must invest £2 million or more in UK share or loan capital. Investments made using borrowed funds are not permitted.

Transferring Funds to the UK
Funds held outside the UK must be transferred legally and in compliance with the regulations of the originating country. Any required transfer approvals must be obtained before applying.

Extending Your Investor Visa
The extension process depends on when your Investor Visa was granted—before 6 November 2014, between 6 November 2014 and 28 March 2019, or after 29 March 2019.

Accelerated Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR)
While standard ILR eligibility requires 5 years of UK residence, accelerated ILR is available with higher investment levels:
£10 million investment: Eligible after 2 years of continuous residence.
£5 million investment: Eligible after 3 years of continuous residence.
